Spicy Chicken Shawarma

Ingredients for serving

  • 100 g Chicken breast, low fat 1 x fillet (100g)
  • 15 g Yogurt, Greek, plain, nonfat
  • 3.1 g Spices, garlic powder 1 x tsp (3.1g)
  • 5.2 g Spices, ginger, ground 1 x tbsp (5.2g)
  • 15 g Ground cumin 1 x tbsp (15g)
  • 1.8 g Spices, coriander seed 1 x tsp (1.8g)
  • 3.8 g Parsley, fresh 1 x tbsp (3.8g)
  • 7.5 g Seeds, sesame butter, tahini, .. 0.5 x tbsp (15g)
  • 0.4 g Salt, table 1 x dash (0.4g)
  • 2.7 g Spices, chili powder 1 x tsp (2.7g)
  • 6 g Lemon juice, raw
  • 1 g Oil, olive, salad or cooking
  • 64 g Bread, pita, whole-wheat 1 x pita, large (6-1/2" dia) (64g)
  • 17 g Tomatoes, red, ripe, raw, year .. 1 x cherry (17g)
  • 38 g Onions, raw 1 x slice, large (1/4" thick) (38g)
  • 7 g Cucumber, peeled, raw 1 x slice (7g)

Instructions

  • Cut the chicken in small pieces.
  • Take a large bowl and combine 1 tablespoon Greek yogurt, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, red chili powder, ginger, cumin, coriander, salt and garlic powder. Give a nice stir to mix all the spices.
  • Marinade the chicken pieces in the spice mix and coat well. Let it stand for 30 minutes.
  • Heat oil to a non stick pan and cook chicken over medium heat. Cook for about 5-6 minutes while stirring frequently.
  • Meanwhile mix remaining Greek yogurt, lemon juice and garlic powder in a bowl.
  • Spread this mixture inside to the pita half and fill it with cooked chicken, cucumber, tomato and onion slices.
  • Prepare the other half of the pita bread in the same manner.
  • Serve warm.
