Instructions

  • Set the oven temperature to 400 degrees Fahrenheit / 200 degrees Celsius.
  • In a bowl, mix onions, salt, tomato paste, cinnamon, cumin, ginger, coriander, egg, ground round and fennel seed to prepare patties.
  • Divide the patty mixture into 8 equal portions and form patties of ΒΌ-inch each.
  • Coat a pan with a little cooking spray and heat it over medium heat. Add 4 patties and cook until they are browned; whilst turning them occasionally.
  • Follow the above procedure for the remaining patties. Now arrange the patties on a baking tray and bake them at the set temperature until they are cooked.
  • To prepare sauce, mix yogurt, lemon rind, tahini, garlic, salt and lemon juice.
  • Spoon out 2 tbsp of the sauce into each pita half. Top it with 2 tomato slices, 1 lettuce leaf and 1 patty.
  • Serve hot.
